Mitch Trubisky (1st Round, 2nd Overall – North Carolina) – While its only early October, for Bears fans, the long awaited debut of rookie quarterback Mitch Trubisky finally happened. After a weak 1-3 start, management decided it was time to see what their top draft pick could do. To the team’s credit, they called plays to his strengths with lots of bootleg passes. At times, Trubisky looked more than comfortable to get the job done. At other times he looked like a rookie with limited NCAA experience.
Trubisky capped of the Bears 20-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings with 129 yards on 12-of-25 passing (48%) with one each: touchdown, interception, fumble, sack and 22 rushing yards for a quarterback rating of 60.2. Not exactly the kind of debut the Bears envisioned when the team traded up in the draft to land him at the number two spot.
