Future Watch: Chris Bigras Rookie Hockey Cards, Avalanche – Chris Bigras was selected 32nd overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. At 6′-1″, 190lbs, Bigras has good speed and is expected to be an offensive defenseman. So far, he’s building towards that.

In 2014-15, the young blueliner had a 71-point season with Owen Sound Attack. He wore the “A” and had a short run in the playoffs. After that, he got a seven-game look-see in the AHL and scored four points in those games.

The next season, he did get to play 31 games with the Avalanche and has been an AHLer since then. Some of that may be due to a coaching change and therefore a philosophy change behind the bench.

Coming into this season Bigras could make the big club or percolate some more with San Antonio. He’s only 22 so there’s plenty of time for him to find his place on the big club. Considering the team has been looking to upgrade their defense, you have to believe he will have every opportunity to make the Avs roster out of training camp.

Bigras had 20 goals in 2014. In the AHL he’s had as high as six. He does need to tighten up the game in his own end and then the rest should take care of itself. He is a good puck mover and the more you move the puck and get into the flow of the play, chances are he’ll start scoring more points.

Chris Bigras has NHL licensed rookie cards in 2016-17 Upper Deck Hockey products including: SPX, SP Authentic, SP Game-Used, O-Pee-Chee Platinum and of course his Young Guns rookie card from Series 1.

Bigras had a foot injury last season that caused him to miss some games. He’ll have a shot at playing a lot of minutes this year in Colorado. He and the organization both want that so let’s see if that happens.
