Future Watch: Andrew Benintendi, Rookie Baseball Cards, Red Sox

Future Watch: Andrew Benintendi, Rookie Baseball Cards, Red Sox – Andrew Benintendi is one of the preseason favorites to win the American League Rookie of the Year Award. The Red Sox left fielder was selected with the seventh overall pick in the 2015 MLB Amateur Draft. In 2013, the Reds drafted him in the 31st round but he opted to play college baseball at the University of Arkansas.

In Madeira High School located in Ohio, the future star hit .564 as a senior with 12 home runs, 57 RBI and 38 steals. Benintendi would eventually lead the Southeast Conference in batting in 2015 with a stellar .380 average. He won SEC Player of the Year honors.

The Red Sox took a known commodity who somehow slipped to them. In his first spring training, there was little doubt that the 22-year-old would be starting in left field in Fenway Park. Ted Williams once did that. No this isn’t a comparison.

As if on cue, Benintendi hit a three-run homer on Opening Day in Beantown. For that game, the hype was real and most have realized that this guy is a force to be reckoned with. As a result, MLB.com has him ranked as their #1 prospect and has this to say about the young standout:Future Watch: Andrew Benintendi, Rookie Baseball Cards, Red Sox

“A quality athlete who was the Ohio state Division III baseball and basketball Player of the Year as a high school senior, Benintendi has above-average speed and plays a fine center field. He won’t get a chance to do that in a Boston outfield with Jackie Bradley Jr. and Mookie Betts, but he could develop into a Gold Glove left fielder with an average arm. He runs the bases well but still is honing his basestealing skills.”

Andrew Benintendi’s first MLB licensed autographed card can be found 2015 Bowman Draft Baseball. The Chrome Draft Picks Autographed Card is #BCA-AB and is currently red hot.  His first officially licensed rookie card debuted with the release of 2017 Topps Series 1 Baseball and is also very popular as well.

Here’s a look at his first major league dinger. What’s next for Benintendi? Stay tuned.
