Future Watch: Brett Pesce Rookie Hockey Cards, HurricanesFuture Watch: Brett Pesce Rookie Hockey Cards, Hurricanes – Brett Pesce is a talented defenseman who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes. To say he got to the NHL in a very interesting way would be an understatement.

A Tarrytown, New York native he started his early career playing for a few teams out of New Jersey until he had a short stint with the NTDP U18 team in 2011-12.

For three solid years he starred at the University of New Hampshire. He showed off his offensive prowess at that time. Later he got a cup of coffee with the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL and then he joined them full time the nest season at the age of 21.

On October 25, 2016, Pesce finally made his NHL debut. Before that, he had been called up but never saw any action. His first career goal came against one of the best goalies in the game – Jonathan Quick. He managed 3 more goals and a total of 16 points in 69 games with the Hurricanes.

At 6′-3″, 201lbs he isn’t afraid to throw his weight around. Already solid defensively his offense seems to be emerging. Depending on his role, he could exceed last year’s totals but one things for sure, he’s proven that he belongs playing at the highest level.

Here’s a look at Pesce blocking a few shots and still staying out on the penalty kill:

Brett Pesce has licensed NHL rookie cards in 2015-16 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey, SPX, SP Game Used as well as an autographed rookie card in 2015-15 Upper Deck Champs Hockey to name a few.

Defenseman tend to take a while before they hit their stride at the NHL level. Pesce has fit right in with his new squad so expect him to make more strides this year as he plays a bigger role.
