Future Watch: Charles Hudon Hockey Rookie Cards, Montreal Canadiens – Sometimes a player is locked in-between leagues. He’s almost too good to be in the AHL and yet he may not be ready to play in the NHL. Charles Hudon is one of those players.

Hudon, who is 21 years old, was the 122nd overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. The Montreal Canadiens spent a late round pick on a 5′-11″ player with a lot of speed and a great shot but wasn’t physically ready to compete in the grind of an NHL season. Last year in the AHL, while playing for the Hamilton Bulldogs he had 19 goals and 57 points in 75 games. That’s a solid rookie season so he’ll certainly get a chance to make the Montreal Canadiens roster in camp this year and the rest is up to him.

The Alma, PQ native already knows French which means he could be a big star in Montreal if he can continue to be a solid offensive player. At right around 185 pounds he certainly looks the part.

Last year he took part in the NHL Rookie Photo Shoot. He had a lot of personality and even though it was just a trading card shoot, Hudon managed to impress onlookers when he was unleashing some nasty shots on goal. The good part is that if he does play at the start of the season, Upper Deck already has a healthy photo catalog to choose from and can immediately insert his rookie card in an early season hockey product.

Now you can get a pre-NHL card of Hudon in the 2014-15 Upper Deck AHL set. Box prices are very reasonable and you have a great chance of getting his first card as a professional.

Charles Hudon also has cards in the following products (to name a few):

  • 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14 In The Game Heroes & Prospects
  • 2014 Upper Deck Team Canada
