Future Watch: Corey Ray Rookie Baseball Cards, BrewersFuture Watch: Corey Ray Rookie Baseball Cards, Brewers – Corey Ray was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the first round of the 2016 MLB Amateur Draft. They took the outfielder with the fifth overall pick. When you have a team willing to draft you that early it does create some expectations from within the fan base.

Ray became the first prospect from Chicago drafted in the first round since 1989. That player was Jeff Jackson; he was drafted fourth overall by the Philadelphia Phillies. Brewers fans are hoping he has a much better career.

Ray managed to get 243 at-bats in last season. All in different types of Class A baseball. He hit five home runs, drove in 17 and stole 10 bases. That’s a nice way to dip your toe into professional baseball.

Before the draft, Ray was named to the second All-American team by Baseball America while playing for Louisville. That season he hit .319 with 15 home runs and 60 RBI with 44 steals. Those numbers show why he will be an impact player at the major-league level.

Corey Ray has an Chrome Prospect autographed card in 2016 Bowman Draft. You can expect to see more autographed cards of this potential phenom in future prospect-oriented baseball card releases. Ray also has cards in 2016 Panini Elite Extra Edition and 2016 Donruss Baseball as part of the USA Collegiate National Team.

According to his MLB.com draft profile:

Ray has a quick left-handed bat and makes consistent hard contact, giving him the potential to hit for both power and average. He uses the entire field well and did a better job of managing the strike zone and making consistent contact this spring. Ray has plus speed and knows how to use it well on the bases, and no player from this year’s Draft can match his combination of power and speed. ETA 2018.

Here’s a good look at his talents:

Ray recently had knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus. This will give him a full off-season to rehab and begin his journey to major league baseball. Good outfielders are hard to come by and it looks like the Brewers have one with a ton of potential.
