Future Watch: Corey Zangari Rookie Baseball Cards, White SoxFuture Watch: Corey Zangari Rookie Baseball Cards, White Sox – Corey Zangari was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the sixth round of the 2015 MLB Amateur Draft. This first baseman who also plays some designated hitter is a big man. At 6′-4″, 240 pounds it’s safe to say he may be the biggest prospect in the White Sox system.

In two seasons of minor league baseball the 19-year-old hit 21 home runs, drove in 92 in 637 at-bats. The ratio is good and his run production is excellent. He scored 82 times and hit a combined .245. He’s off and running.

Corey Zangari has a Bowman Chrome Prospect Autograph card, #BCAP-CZ, in 2016 Bowman Chrome Baseball. He also has a card in 2016 Topps Heritage Minor League.

According to his MLB.com draft profile:

“With the strength in his massive 6-foot-4, 240-pound frame, Zangari can drive balls a long way. He’s more slugger than hitter right now, so he’ll need to make adjustments to his approach to tap into his power on a consistent basis. His home run ceiling ranks among the best in Chicago’s system.” ETA 2019.

Zangari last played for the Kannapolis Intimadators in Class A. You’d have to think he will be elevated to AA ball for the 2017 season.

Here’s a look at the Oklahoma native getting a walk-off hit:

Turning pro isn’t easy. Zangari is a player who will have a fair amount of swings and misses but when he connects watch out. He’s starting to make more contact as he moves up the ladder, coupled with his stocky frame, it’s fair to say once he’s ready, he could have a pretty immediate impact at the Major League level.

So far he’s on schedule. Sometimes little hiccups can occur but he’s the kind of player who could make a quick jump after this season. Teams are always looking for home-run hitters and the fact that he plays a decent first base does bode well for this up and coming prospect.
