Future Watch: Derrick Henry, Rookie Football Cards, Titans – The 2015 NCAA Heisman Trophy winner, Derrick Henry had a stellar collegiate career playing for the Alabama Crimson Tide. In addition to helping lead Alabama to the College Football Playoff Championship, Henry racked up numerous awards and accolades in 2015, including:

  • Heisman Trophy
  • Maxwell Award
  • Doak Walker Award
  • Walter Camp Award
  • Unanimous All-American
  • First-team All-SEC
  • SEC Offensive Player of the Year

Running behind Alabama’s formidable offensive line, Derrick Henry finished with a NCAA career stat line of:

  • Rushing – 603 carries, 3,591 yards, 6.0 yard average, 42 TDs
  • Receiving – 16 receptions, 291 yards, 3 TDs

With him still available, the Tennessee Titans wasted little time in using their 45th overall pick (2nd Round) in the 2016 NFL Draft, to add Henry to their roster.

Derrick Henry’s NFL Draft Profile, states: One of the biggest running backs you will ever see. Can be a violent runner without even trying. Pummels tacklers with forward lean and dynamite behind his pads. Gives run-­support cornerbacks bad dreams. Rare top­-end speed for a runner his size. Long strides from second to third level cut into reaction time for safeties and often leave them a step short and grasping for air.

Talented running backs like Henry don’t come around every year. And although, the position has declined in terms of draft importance, Henry may be an exception. A such he has several prospect themed football cards from draft pick related products. These include those produced by Panini, Leaf and Sage. At this point in the collecting season, Henry is heavily featured in numerous NFL licensed football card products released by Panini America.

Prices for Henry’s NFL licensed rookie football cards should continue to increase on the secondary market with the more carries he gets. Demand will only grow if he performs well and is given other opportunities throughout the 2016 NFL season.
