Future Watch: Josh Morrissey Rookie Hockey Cards, JetsFuture Watch: Josh Morrissey Rookie Hockey Cards, Jets – Josh Morrissey is a very talented, fast skating defenseman who was selected 13th overall by the Winnipeg Jets in the 2013 NHL Draft. He’s been on a lot of Team Canada’s elite teams including some gold medal squads like the 2013 U18 team and the U20 group that performed so well at the 2014-15 World Junior Championships.

He turned pro last season and he managed to play in 57 games for the Manitoba Moose of the AHL. His 22 points was very respectable for his rookie season there. At 6′-0″, 195lbs., his man strength is almost there and he had a nice run in this years’ training camp; good enough to make the opening night roster.

Before this season he got in one game for the Jets last season. That’s how he was able to get an NHL licensed hockey card out of the deal. Josh Morrissey’s rookie cards can be found in 2016-17 Upper Deck MVP, 2016-17 O-Pee-Chee Hockey and 2016-17 NHL Artifacts Hockey.

Morrissey also has cards in 2015-16 Upper Deck AHL and 2015-16 Upper Deck Canada World Juniors as well as several products prior to that from In The Game.

The prospects’ all-around game is solid and his maturity on and off the ice will get him plenty of ice time and most likely a fair amount of points. He has a terrific shot and he’s very much at home on the power play.

Here is his comments on Draft Day in 2013:

Collectors should know this rearguard has a chance to be one of the top offensive defenseman in the NHL someday. For now he’s going to get a very long look while one of the team’s regulars, Jacob Trouba, is holding out for a better contract.

Morrissey is getting an early chance that many other defenseman don’t get. He’s already showed off a physical side and no telling what else he’ll do in order to keep his roster spot. He’s hungry and eager to prove he belongs.
