Future Watch: Kareem Hunt Rookie Football Cards, Chiefs – Kareem Hunt was a third-round selection by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2017 NFL Draft. A lot of running backs can be found in the mid-rounds of a draft and it looks like the Chiefs struck gold with this one.

Hunt played four seasons for the University of Toledo. He averaged 6.3 yards per carry for his career. He also gained 4,945 yards and had 44 rushing touchdowns and one receiving score. At 5′-10″, 216 pounds, he’s built to run through or around defenders. He can move the pile or break a key tackle.

In his first game with the Chiefs he caught five passes for two touchdowns. One more than he had for his entire college career. Considering his first game was against the Patriots, the fact that he had three touchdowns was an amazing debut. He had 148 yards on the ground and 98 though the air. His 246 yards from scrimmage was an NFL record for a running back playing in his first game. Beating the NFL champs was just icing on the cake for him.

Hunt did lose the ball once and he recovered it. He fumbled once in college in four seasons. That makes him pretty reliable and now it’s 100% safe to say that he’s the Chiefs’ new feature back.
