Future Watch: Linus Ullmark Rookie Hockey Cards, Sabres – At the age of 22 it’s all just sitting there for Buffalo Sabres goaltender, Linus Ullmark. Goaltenders are a position where it takes a lot of time for the large majority of them to mature mentally and physically. He’s still in the development stage and this year he’ll get a chance to show off his wares in hopes of becoming “the guy” in Buffalo.

Many will say he’s the number two backstop in the organization and while that may be true today, we’ll see what happens when the season starts. At the moment he’s missing development camp due to illness but I don’t think that’ll hurt his position with the club.

Ullmark last played with MODO in Sweden in 2014-15. Last year he ended up playing 28 games with the Sabres AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans and 20 games with the Sabres. That’s a very solid season.

In his second stint in the AHL last year he had some struggles. Switching leagues at that age is hard, plus there’s a different team in front of you and the ice conditions are different. It’s all a very complicated equation that equals much needed experience for the talented Swede.

Facing six attackers on the ice he made the cranium save against Florida:

Linus Ullmark’s NHL licensed rookie cards can be found in 2015-16 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey, 2015-16 Upper Deck ICE, 2015-16 Fleer Showcase Hockey2015-16 SP Authentic Hockey and 2015-16 O-Pee-Chee Hockey to name a few.

Considering he was drafted in the 6th round, 163rd overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft the Sabres are really playing with house money. At 6′-4″ he’s a big, athletic goalie who thinks a shot ahead and can track the puck well in traffic. When he hit fans radar was in the 2014 Prospect Camp. That’s where he showed the world he was going to be heard from. At that point in his career he was far down the depth chart and look at him now.
