Future Watch: Mackenzie Skapski Hockey Rookie Cards, New York Rangers – At the age of 21, New York Rangers prospect goaltender, Mackenzie Skapski has had a whirlwind year. He started the year in the ECHL then after 1 game was moved to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL and along the way when starting goalie Henrik Lundqvist got injured he was called up to the NHL.

The Rangers had the kid just in case but after his first game, a win, he got into a second game and the results were amazing. He won both games posting a minuscule goals against average of .050 and a save percentage of .978. He eventually got sent down but if you ask him, and I did, he never expected to play for the Rangers when the season started.

With just 31 professional games under his belt he will likely start the year in the AHL once again. He’s a confident player and he’ll once again wait for his chance. Goalies rarely get those chances and the first time he made the most of it.

At 6′-3″, 195bs or so, he’s recovering from offseason hip surgery. At the NHLPA Rookie Showcase he was on the ice, took part in some figure skating but that’s about it. He was really happy to be there and proudly wearing his mask that included a picture of the Empire State Building on it.

Mackenzie Skapski’s first hockey cards were released in 2012-13 In The Game Between the Pipes. The following year’s product, 2013-14 In The Game Between the Pipes issued his first certified autographed trading card.

As a late season call up Mackenzie Skapski has a rookie cards in the recent released  2015-16 Upper Deck MVP and 2015-16 O-Pee-Chee sets. However, neither of these products contains an autographed rookie card of the young net-minder.

As a result, collectors should also be on the lookout for the potential of other early season products containing his rookie cards including: 2015-16 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey, 2015-16 Black Diamond and 2015-16 Upper Deck Series One.

Goalies always have a certain amount of gravitas in the hobby and Skapski will be sought after.
