Future Watch: Ryan Hartman Hockey Rookie Cards, Blackhawks – It’s rare that a defending Stanley Cup champion has an untouchable in their farm system but the Chicago Blackhawks seem to have one in Ryan Hartman. Now that the 2016 trading deadline has passed Hartman has survived. With just 8 NHL games under his belt, why is he so valuable?

Drafted 30th overall in 2013 the 5′-11″ right winger was thrilled to be drafted by the Blackhawks. The Hawks got a value pick. This all-around player just understands the game and the importance of being tough at certain times and being a scorer when it matters most.

In Rockford, the Blackhawks AHL affiliate, he’s poised for another 15-20 goal year with well over 100 PIMS. There are players who take penalties at inopportune times but the large majority of Hartman’s are intelligent. Sometimes to spark the team and sometimes to break up what looks like a prime scoring chance.

At 21, this graduate of the NTDP has his sights set on the NHL and he’s the kind of player who could be a black ace when the playoffs roll around for the Blackhawks. It’s not clear whether or not he’d get playing time but he would gain valuable experience like so many others that have taken part in Chicago’s previous Cup runs.
