Future Watch: Tyler Motte Rookie Hockey Cards, Blackhawks – Talk about an interesting path to the NHL and the Chicago Blackhawks. Tyler Motte was selected with the 121st overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. During his draft year, he played for the USA Hockey National Team Development Program and afterwards he spent three solid seasons at the University of Michigan. His last one was a monster season where he had 56 points in 38 games potting 32 goals. He was an All-American and a Hobey Baker Finalist. He was ready for the next step.

After college, he caught on with the Rockford Ice Hogs in the AHL. There, he played five regular season games and three playoff games. That was a good way to get introduced to a difficult league.

After his AHL stint was over he joined Team USA in the World Championships putting up three points in 10 games against NHL talent. That got the attention of the Blackhawks.

Last season he practically split time between Rockford and Chicago. Getting 33 games of NHL experience was huge for the left winger. Although he’s only 5′-9″, 188 pounds, he has a solid foundation and when you watch him play you forget all about his size. So far, he has four goals and seven points in his NHL career.

Tyler Motte has officially licensed, NHL rookie cards in 2016-17 SP Authentic including a Future Watch Autograph card as well as a Young Guns rookie card in 2016-17 Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey, to name just a couple of his key ones. You can also find Motte autographed cards in 2016-17 SP Game Used and 2016-17 Fleer Showcase.

Here’s a feature on Motte and his career with the Blackhawks:

This St. Clair, Michigan native has a real chance to make the team this year at the age of 22. He’s not a lock and he may have to start the season in Rockford if there’s a log jam in Chicago. One thing’s for sure, there will be an injury or an opening and he’ll get another long look and should be able to take advantage of that.
