Hot in the Shop – Week of February 15th, 2016 – Hoops!Hot in the Shop – Week of March 14th, 2016 – Star Trek 50th – The dog days of the NHL and NBA regular seasons are in full swing. Teams are jockeying for seeding and trying to stay healthy for the start of the playoffs next month. Another photo finish in NASCAR has fans and collectors eager to see Panini’s first go at their new trading card license.

March Madness gets underway this week. CBS tried to stretch the selection show to two-hours yesterday. The network successfully managed to turn one of the highlights of the sports calendar year into an absolute snooze-fest. Thankfully, and much to the chagrin of executives and advertisers, someone mercifully released the entire bracket on Twitter. God bless social media.

It’s a light week in terms of new releases. However, the products that are making their debut are sure to be popular with collectors. Leading the way is the 50th Anniversary commemorative for Star Trek the Original Series. This has the potential of being a monumental release as it is sure to attract former and even non-collectors alike.
