Patrick Mahomes, Quarterback – Kansas City Chiefs: OK, so apparentlyMahomes won’t be throwing an average of five/plus touchdown passes per game. However, the second year player out of Texas Tech is proving he is the real deal. He went head-to-head with another big name quarterback in Jimmy Garoppolo However, it was the Chiefs that came out on top. They beat the San Francisco 49ers 38-27. He finished with a 24-of-38 for 314 yards with 3 touchdowns and a QB Rating of 115.5.

Baker Mayfield, Quarterback – Cleveland Browns: Without verbally making the commitment just yet, it appears the Baker Mayfield era has officially started in Cleveland. The number one overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, made his debut Sunday. It came when Tyrod Taylor went down with an injury. Mayfield came in and managed the game, giving his team a chance to win, and they did. It was the Browns first win since December, 2016Mayfield threw for 201 yards on 17-for-23 passing in the Browns 21-17 win over the New York Jets. He didn’t throw any touchdowns but he didn’t throw any interceptions either. Additionally, he was only sacked one time.

Josh Allen, Quarterback – Buffalo Bills: They young gunslinger out of the University of Wyoming led the Buffalo Bills to a shocking, 27-6 win over the Minnesota Vikings. The fan base of the Bills have been eagerly waiting for Allen to have a breakout performance. He delivered with 196 yards on 15-of-22 passing with one touchdown and no interceptions. He also rushed for two additional touchdowns on 10 carries for 39 yards. Fans were able to forgive his three fumbles . . . for now.

Deshaun Watson, Quarterback – Houston Texans: The former 12th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Clemson looks to be returning to form after an injury sidelined a potential Rookie of the Year season. Despite losing to the New York Giants 22-27, Watson threw for 385 yards on 24-40 passing with two touchdowns and one interception. He also rushed for 36 yards on five carries.

Running Backs

Chris Carson, Running Back – Seattle Seahawks: This second year back was selected in the 7th round of the 2017 NFL Draft with the 249th overall pick out of Oklahoma State. He was a workhorse in the Seahawks 24-13 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Johnson rushed for 102 yards on 32 carries with one touchdown. He also had two receptions for an additional 22 yards. Time will tell if the young back can be depended upon for that many carries. However, if so, it could take a lot of pressure off of quarterback Russell Wilson.

Kerryon Johnson, Running Back – Detroit Lions: He was the SEC Player of the Year in 2017 at Auburn. Johnson was selected in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft with the 43rd overall pick. He rushed for 101 yards on 16 carries in the Lions 26-10 win over the New England Patriots.

Christian McCaffrey, Running Back – Carolina Panthers: Highly touted out of Stanford, McCaffrey was selected with the 8th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. An adapt receiver and ball carrier, he rushed for 184 yards on 28 carries. This helped the Panthers to a 31-21 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Wide Receivers

Calvin Ridley, Wide Receiver – Atlanta Falcons: The speedy wideout was selected with the 26th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Alabama. He had seven receptions for 146 yards and three touchdowns including a 75-yard strike. Despite this performance, it wasn’t enough to overcome the New Orleans Saints. The Falcons lost, in over-time, with a final score of 37-43.

Alvin Kamara, Running Back – New Orleans Saints: Is he a running back, a wide receiver or the reincarnation of the flanker? Regardless of whatever position the Saints utilize him at, Kamara excels. He helped lead the Saints to a 43-37 over-time win against the Atlanta Falcons. He touched the ball 31 times including 15 receptions for 124 yards and 16 carries for another 66 yards.
