Breaking Barriers: WWE Superstar Rhea Ripley – The women of the WWE have become the main event over the last few years with the advent of WWE Raw Women’s Championship and the NXT Women’s Championship. Their popularity in the hobby has grown, as well, considering companies are putting out dedicated products like the Topps WWE Women’s Division sets.
One star to keep an eye on is Rhea Ripley. Known for her metal look, attitude, and signature “Mitch Lucker Stomp” she brings a style all her own to the mat. Ripley reigns as the current WWE Raw Women’s Champion. One of the first WWE Superstar to hail from Australia, she has also held the NXT Championship and the NXT UK Championship. Ripley is the only person to have ever held all three titles.
Rhea Ripley came upon the sport of wrestling at a very young age. While she loved playing soccer, netball, and several other sports, she knew she wanted to try wrestling. She emulated the moves she saw on TV on her backyard trampoline, and at 16 decided to try out for the Riot City Wrestling in South Australia.

In 2017, at the age of 20, Ripley came to the United States and performed in the WWE as part of the inaugural Mae Young Classic. She had been in the country for two weeks. Her showing in the second Mae Young led to her securing a spot on the first roster of the NXT UK in 2018. After winning the NXT Women’s Championship, she became the first of the brand to defend her title at WrestleMania.
The 2020 season was a hard one for Ripley. Being so far from her family and competing without the roar of the crowd behind her was difficult, but she was determined to continue working towards being the best. Ripley moved over to Raw and won that championship at WrestleMania 37 in April of this year. She has certainly come into her own in the short time she has been with the WWE and promises to be a big name in the brand for years to come.
