2015-Cleveland-NationalComplete Guide to the 2015 National Sports Collectors Convention – This year marks the 36th occasion that collectors, manufacturers, dealers and industry professionals will congregate for the hobby’s showcase event. This year’s National will take place between Wednesday July 29th and August 2nd. The Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL, just a few minutes northwest of Chicago will serve as the venue.

The National Sports Collectors Convention is an opportunity for manufactures to showcase their latest and upcoming products. It also serves as a way to give back to loyal collectors in the form of giveaways, raffles and redemption programs.

This year, The National will play host to more than 600 dealers and distributors and 50 corporate displays while providing attendees more than 350,000 square feet of convention floor space. Here, collectors will be able to find everything from dead-ball era collectibles to modern day sports cards and sports memorabilia.

This show provides collectors with, literally, a treasure trove of opportunities. From getting a great deal on unopened wax boxes to knocking out singles off want lists, the National is an ideal place to shop regardless of what you are looking for. In fact, there is a saying, that, “If you can’t find it at the National, you don’t need it.”

Planned and impromptu events, both take place at the National every year. It’s important to be in the know and keep your ears open to where that private party hosting a famous athlete might be located. However, two events have become part of the National’s mystique in recent years. Here’s what we know so far about each.

panini vip 2015Panini America VIP Party

Not for the budget conscious collector but instead a high-rolling affair for collectors and retailers with deep pockets. The venue is almost always a secret until the last minute and this year’s high class affair will be no different.

So just how can you attend this invite only event? Collectors purchasing $7,500 worth of select Panini trading card products on the show floor, are automatically eligible to attend. While that might seem like a steep price, those willing to step up to the plate in past years have been rewarded with a 5-star dining experience, music, entertainment, free product and the opportunity to mix and mingle with high-profile celebrity athletes. What’s in store for this year is anybody’s guess.

However, we do have some early details here.

Upper Deck Diamond Club Reception

Upper Deck annually rewards members of its Certified Diamond Club with their own high-profile event.  This is a more exclusive party limited to official dealers and retailers. More news on the exact details of this event will be announced in the coming days.
