Tsunoda quickly impressed in junior motorsport with his speed, race craft, and ability to adapt to new environments. In 2020 he made his debut in the Formula 2 securing three race wins and finishing third in the championship.
After these impressive displays, Tsunoda was promoted in 2021 to the AlphaTauri Formula One team. This, after driving with the Honda Formula Dream Project who has close ties to Red Bull. It is worth remembering that this is the sister team of Red Bull. It’s where Formula One World Champions Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen began their careers.
Tsunoda made a strong start with a memorable debut race in Bahrain where he finished in the points. He also had an impressive 4th place finish in the 2021 season finale in Abu Dhabi.
The 2023 season has been another step forward for Tsunoda who has comfortably beaten his teammate in all races. He has scored points in two races already and has been competitive in the other three.
Tsunoda may well be a lead driver or part of one of the best lineups on the grid in the future. In a better car, Tsunoda could win races and compete in a World Championship battle. Pierre Gasly leaving the Red Bull family also puts Tsunoda near the front of the queue if a seat at Red Bull opens up.
