Future Watch: 2017 NHL Draft Prospect, Nico HischierFuture Watch: 2017 NHL Draft Prospect, Nico Hischier – Nico Hischier is a fast skating Swiss center who has done everything he could do this year to be considered the first overall pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

Unless something unforeseen occurs, he’ll go second but that’s nothing to sneeze at. This pivot can score with the best of them and set up his teammates just as easily. He has the kind of drive and desire that it takes to be a top-liner in the NHL.

Hischier had quite a season with the Halifax Mooseheads in the QMJHL, which could be his last. He had 86 points in 57 games. His 38 goals were impressive and that carried over into the playoffs. He had seven points in six games with three goals.

Many found out about Hischier for the first time at the 2017 U20 World Junior Championships. On a team that was challenged offensively at times, he managed to get seven points in five games. His four goals were massively important to his team. He was one of the most exciting players in the tournament.

So far, Hischier has only been included in Mooseheads team sets and some other types of cards. However, when his first NHL licensed card hits the market, watch out. He already has a following in Canada, Europe and soon the United States.

Nico Hischier’s first autographed cards will be found in two upcoming products from Leaf Trading Cards, including:

Here’s a good look at what he can do on the ice:

This six footer can deke around players like they aren’t there. When he wants to get to the net he usually finds a way. At 18, he’ll likely go to training camp with the team that drafts him and then it’ll be up to him to see if he can play in the NHL. He’s a 200-foot player and a leader so my guess is he just might.
