Future Watch: Adam Boqvist Hockey Cards, Chicago Blackhawks – Adam Boqvist was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks with the eighth overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft. This Swedish defenseman has terrific offensive gifts, and the Blackhawks felt like they found their next great power-play quarterback.
Adam is following in the skatemarks of his older brother, Jesper, who has logged time with the New Jersey Devils. Adam worked his way up through Brynas, the same team as his brother. From 2015-2018, he played in 103 games, tallying 85 points during that time, and many recognized him as one of the top offensive defensemen in the Swedish system.
During that time, Boqvist represented Sweden in various tournaments. In 2017-18, in the U-18s, this blueliner had three goals and three assists in six games. He was voted best defenseman and took home a bronze medal. He also captured bronze in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, where he counted eight points in five games.
In 2018-19, Boqvist started playing in North America and joined the London Knights in the OHL. In 54 games, he potted 20 goals and 60 points. During that season, he played in the U-20 World Junior Hockey Championship where he recorded four points in five games. In the OHL Playoffs, Boqvist had an incredible 10 goals and 13 points in 11 games.
In 2019-20, this top prospect played in the AHL and NHL. With the Rockford Ice Hogs, he had six points in 15 games while his time with he Blackhawks saw the burgeoning prospect count four goals and 13 points in 41 games.
