Future Watch: Adam Fox Rookie Hockey Cards, Rangers – Adam Fox has an interesting story. He was first drafted by the Calgary Flames with the 66th overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft. Almost immediately this was a great pick until Calgary traded him when it was known he wasn’t going to sign there. Carolina acquired in as part of a trade and the same thing happened. Then Carolina traded him to the New York Rangers and that was the fit the defenseman from Long Island, had been hoping for.
It all started for him when he played for the Long Island Gulls. He and Jack Badini played there. Fox had 14 goals and 51 points in 22 games.
He joined the NTDP after that. He had 59 points in 64 games but got to play with future stars like Clayton Keller (Coyotes) and Casey Mittelstadt (Sabres). He did represent Team USA at the U18s and got nine points in eight games, a best defenseman award, and a bronze medal.
In 2016-17, he started to play for Harvard with Badini among others like Ryan Donato (Wild) and Alex Kerfoot (Leafs). In his three seasons there he amassed 116 points in 97 games. In 2016-17, he was an ECAC champion and he was a two-year All-American blueliner and ECAC Player of the Year in 2018-19. Also, a Hobey Baker Award Finalist, Cale Makar (Avalanche) won the award.
He has a gold medal on his resume. In 2016-17, he was on the U20 World Junior Championship squad that beat Team Canada in Canada. He had four points in seven games. Fox assisted on the game-tying goal that the U.S. won excitingly in the shootout.
Collectors can find his Young Guns rookie card in 2019-20 Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey.
