Future Watch: Adonis Medina Rookie Baseball CardsFuture Watch: Adonis Medina Rookie Baseball Cards – Adonis Medina is a talented pitcher who the Philadelphia Phillies signed as a Dominican free-agent in 2014. To say this pitcher is a top prospect might not be doing him justice.

From 2014 until today he has graduated to A-ball. He currently plays for the Lakewood Blue Claws. He features a 98 MPH heater that moves and that has seen him strikeout 12 this season and 10 twice this year in three great outings. In his last start the 20-year-old phenom took a no-no into the ninth but lost it with just one out in the inning. His 0.57 WHIP is the third lowest in the New York-Penn League.

In 60 innings, he’s manage to fan 75 batters. He is only 2-5 so he’s had some hard luck. His 3.13 ERA suggests that he’s having an All-Star season.

Adonis Medina has a 2017 Bowman Baseball Chrome Prospects Autographs card that’s really hot right now. Is only other current autographed card can be found in 2016 Onyx Platinum Elite Baseball.

Here is what scouts have to say at MLB Prospect Pipeline:

The athletic, albeit a bit undersized, right-hander has the chance to have a solid three-pitch mix. He’ll throw his fastball anywhere in the 90-95 mph range and he throws it with a lot of life, inducing ground-ball outs at a very high rate. He’ll show an average breaking ball, but it’s inconsistent, something he’ll have to tighten up as he moves up the ladder. He has a feel for a changeup, which could also be a Major League average offering for him. He tends to be a strike-thrower but does not miss a ton of bats, something that sharper secondary stuff will help. ETA 2019.

Here’s Medina popping the ball this spring:

The Phillies may have a real star on their hands and they’re bringing him along slowly. They want him to throw a certain amount of minor-league innings before he debut’s in the big leagues. Fans will start calling for him to be promoted soon.
