Future Watch: Adrian Morejon Rookie Baseball Cards, PadresFuture Watch: Adrian Morejon Rookie Baseball Cards, PadresAdrian Morejon was signed as an International free agent by the San Diego Padres in 2016. Since then the pitcher has been on a bit of a ride with the hopes of getting to the major leagues.

The Cuban pitcher starting his pro career with the Tri-City Dust Devils. He started seven games and pitched 35 1/3 innings, he struck out 35 and only walked three. His 3.57 ERA was a good start. He finished that season with the Fort Wayne TinCaps. In 27 innings he struck out 13 and had a 4,23 ERA. That was Class A-ball and he temporarily met his match.

In 2018 he pitched a few innings for the Arizona League Padres to get him going. He eventually graduated to the Lake Elsinore Storm in Advance A-ball. In 62 2/3 innings, he struck out 70 and walked 24. He had a 1.24 WHIP, a 4-4 record with a 3.30 ERA. He then had to recover from a hip injury. He still had a strong finish to his season, and he was well on schedule as a prospect.

Collectors can get his 2018 Bowman Draft autographed rookie card.

According to his MLB.com Draft Profile:

Morejon impresses with a combination of stuff and polish, both of which he made strides with last season. He’s physically strong, with an athletic and repeatable delivery that gives him feel for locating a fastball that sits at 93-96 mph and scrapes higher. He complements his fastball with both a knuckle-changeup and a standard changeup, and both versions of the pitch receive at least above-average grades from evaluators. His curveball has improved as he’s learned to better repeat his arm slot and could be a legitimate out pitch for him with further refinement. ETA 2020.

Here’s a look at him in action:

Recently, he just threw five scoreless innings and earned the win for the Corpus Christi Hooks in Double-A. He struck out seven and walked one.
