Future Watch: Alec Bohm Rookie Baseball Cards, PhilliesFuture Watch: Alec Bohm Rookie Baseball Cards, PhilliesAlec Bohm was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies with the 3rd overall pick in the 2018 MLB Amateur Draft. Wichita State was the place he really sent his stock soaring.

In 2016, as a Freshman, he played in 51 games. He started 23 of them at the hot corner and 21 at DH. He had six home runs with 30 RBI and a .303 batting average.

In 2017, he started 46 games at third base. He had 11 home runs, five steals, 13 doubles, 11 homers, and 40 RBI. He also was on the honor roll for the second time.

In 2018, he made all 57 starts at third base. He hit .339 with 57 runs scored, 16 home runs and 55 RBI. He was a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award. He was a second-team All-American player.  He was ready to turn pro.

In 2018, he played in lower A with the Williamsport CrossCutters. In 107 at-bats he had five doubles, one triple, no home runs and 12 RBI. It was a start.

According to his MLB.com draft profile:

Bohm has the potential to hit for average as well as power at the highest level. He has strength and excellent bat speed to go along with excellent strike zone control. As a result, he can draw walks and doesn’t strike out much, especially for someone who can generate plus raw power. The Phillies are excited to have him work with new hitting coordinator Jason Ochart and implement their more advanced program in 2019. While Bohm has worked on his defense at third, the jury is still out about whether he will be able to stay there. He did do a lot of agility and flexibility type of work during instructional league play after last season. ETA 2021.

Collectors can find his rookie card in 2019 Bowman Priority Baseball.

Here’s a look at his 6-5, 225-pound frame in action:

In 2019, he moved up from A to A+ to Double-A. He’s already hit a few home runs where he is with the Reading Fightin Phils. This guy is the real deal. He might not be Mike Schmidt, but who is?
