Future Watch: Alex Guerrero Baseball Rookie Cards, L.A. Dodgers – Alex Guerrero is yet another prospect who’s time has come. He’s currently playing left field and third base for the Los Angeles Dodgers as he finds his way through his rookie season.

At 6-0, 215, this right handed slugger managed to hit 10 homers in his first 152 at-bats. What may be more impressive is his 30 RBI in just 65 games. Now that is some serious production. Even with these numbers the Dodgers are loaded so now he’s been working out at second base. A position he hasn’t played since AAA. He draws a lot of comparisons to Kevin Mitchell in that regard.

For a player who won the April NL Rookie of the Month honor, he still has to pinch hit and find at-bats when his manager, Don Mattingly, sees the opportunity.

This talented Cuban-born player is now 28 but his time is now. On June 3rd he hit his first major league grand slam against the Colorado Rockies. So far there’s very little this utility man hasn’t done and the future looks very bright.

Alex Guerrero’s rookie cards came out last year. His cards are on the checklist of several 2014 Topps Baseball products including Bowman Platinum, Bowman Chrome, High-Tek, Finest and Inception to name a few.

Guerrero is a rare case in the hobby as his first cards are his officially designated rookie cards as well. A real treat for fans and collectors in this modern hobby era.

Here’s a look at his walk-off, bases-loaded single in the 10th inning:

Right now, Guerrero may be the Dodgers secret weapon, but as the season rolls on he will be that player who is ready to fill in for an injured starter. He could easily “Wally Pipp” somebody in the second half of the season.
