Future Watch: Alex Kirilloff Rookie Baseball Cards, TwinsFuture Watch: Alex Kirilloff Rookie Baseball Cards, Twins – Alex Kirilloff was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the first round of the 2016 MLB Amateur Draft. The right fielder who hails from “The Keystone State” Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was home schooled but did play baseball for Plum High School. It was a different path but one that’s worked out well for him so far.

Drafted 15th overall, the 6′-2″, 195 pound prospect reported straight to the Elizabethon Twins of the Appalachian League. He made his presence known by smacking seven home runs while driving in 33. He hit .306 and had a .454 slugging percentage. He was named Appy Player of the Year and that’s probably the first award of many that he’ll likely receive over the course of his career.

According to his MLB.com draft profile:

While there is a little length to his swing, he’s shown the ability to barrel the ball consistently and has considerable raw power. He’s more athletic than one would think given his size and played center field for his high school team. While he played some center during his pro debut, he’ll likely be a corner outfielder in the future. He moves more than well enough to stay there. He has a strong arm, one that fired 87-90 mph fastballs from the mound. ETA 2020.

Alex Kirilloff will be featured in 2016 Bowman Draft Baseball Cards, which releases next Friday, December 9th. You can expect to see autographed cards of this future slugger in the product.

Leaf Trading Cards featured Kirilloff last year in 2015 Leaf Perfect Game.

Here’s a look at his sweet swing with a familiar song playing in the background:

The Twins believe they have something special in Kirilloff. They’re not going to rush him to the big leagues. They will make sure he has plenty of at-bats in the minor leagues. He’s only 19, he’s turned pro, and now they’ll wait for him to get bigger, stronger and faster and someday he’ll be hitting bombs out of Target Field in Minnesota.
