Future Watch: Angel Perdomo Rookie Baseball Cards, Blue JaysFuture Watch: Angel Perdomo Rookie Baseball Cards, Blue Jays – Angel Perdomo is a Dominican-born prospect who signed a free-agent deal with the Toronto Blue Jays back in 2011. After playing a few seasons in the Dominican Republic the pitcher decided to come to North America and test his luck in the minor leagues.

At 6′-6″ 200 pounds, he has the kind of measurables teams dream of for a dominating hurler. As he has continued to move up the ladder of the Blue Jays minor league system his strikeout totals have improved.

Last year in low-A he played for the Lansing Lugnuts and there he managed to strike out 156 batters in 127 innings. During that season, he notched five wins but the organization wanted to see more out of him.

So far, this year his strikeout totals are decent in A+ ball playing for the Dunedin Blue Jays. He has whiffed 52 players in his first 66 innings. On the plus side, he has already gotten five wins and has an ERA of 3.12. At 23, he’s improving and the Jays want to make sure he’s ready before making the jump to the majors.

Angel Perdomo only current autograph is his Chrome Prospects Autographs card in 2017 Bowman Baseball.

Here’s the scouting report on him from MLB Pipeline:

A 6-foot-6 left-hander, Perdomo uses his height to create downhill plane with his fastball, which can touch 94 mph but typically sits in the low 90s with late life. Scouts believe he will eventually sit in the mid-90s once he’s grown into his lanky frame and learned to harness his long limbs during his delivery. His sharp, low-80s slider is inconsistent but will flash average, thrown with depth and tilt, and improving his nascent changeup is sure to be a focal point in his future development. ETA 2019.

Perdomo is getting closer to the big leagues. Collectors should begin tracking his progress now.
