Future Watch: Anthony DeAngelo Rookie Hockey Cards, Coyotes – This fast skating, highly skilled defenseman was selected 19th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. At the time, many thought Anthony DeAngelo was just what the Lightning needed. Until they traded him.

The Lightning traded him for Arizona’s 37th overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft. They picked a Czech defenseman instead. The Coyotes were happy to make this deal and they put DeAngelo in the lineup this year. He’s split time with Tuscon, their AHL affiliate where he had 16 points in 25 games. Right now, with the Coyotes he has 12 points in 34 games with five goals.

Between the two clubs he’s now played 128 professional games at the age of 21. This Sewell, NJ resident is well on his way to becoming an everyday offensive defenseman in the greatest league on earth.

DeAngelo has been on some elite teams including the 2014-15 World Junior Championship team. That team featured current NHLers, Brandon Carlo (Bruins), Auston Matthews (Leafs), Dylan Larkin (Red Wings), Jack Eichel (Sabres), Nick Schmaltz (Blackhawks), Alex Tuch (Wild), John Hayden (Blackhawks) and J.T. Compher (Avs) to name a few. That team came in 5th but he learned a lot playing with these talents.

This former CHL Defenseman of the Year starred in Sarnia and now he has a chance to do the same in the Arizona desert.

You can get his his officially NHL licensed Young Guns rookie card in 2016-17 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey. You can also find rookies of him in several other current year hockey card products including SPx,  SP Game Used and Fleer Showcase to name a few.

Here’s a look at his first NHL goal:

DeAngelo figures to be in the long-term plans in Arizona. But this is the NHL and because it’s a business, anything can happen. The one constant is his talent and that will continue to improve as he gains more experience.
