Future Watch: Antoine Bibeau Hockey Rookie Cards, Leafs – Antoine Bibeau made a name for himself when he led Val d’or back in 2013-14. That year, his team was the QMJHL champions. He also won the Guy Lafleur trophy as the playoff MVP. They didn’t win it all but he did make the Toronto Maple Leafs very happy that they drafted him in the 6th round in 2013.

At 6′-2″, 210lbs he has the measurables to play the position at the next level. He has the heart and the athletic ability as well. He’s a workhorse and teammates like playing in front of him. He exudes confidence. Into his second season with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL he is having a nice season and at the age of 21 he has a bright future ahead of him.

Goalies only have to sit on the bench to have their first hockey card made. It makes sense because many are called up on an “emergency basis” and never see the ice. They are the insurance policy but they put on the sweater, an honor, and therefore deserve the card. They aren’t scratched in the press box, that’s the difference.

You can get his rookie card in 2015-16 Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey, Artifacts and Trilogy to name a few. When you’re collecting goalies you have to exhibit patience. Because of the lack of jobs at the NHL level and the maturity level that it takes to play the position, some players take until the age of 25 to really show their stuff.

Here’s a look at him in action:

Time will tell if he is a true #1 goalie or a 1a. That’s hard to say at this time. Goalies have a certain gravitas in the hobby and this kid has a flair to his game. Two good reasons to check him out.
