Future Watch: Arizona Cardinals Football Cards, Top Five Prospects – The Arizona Cardinals have a lot of players on the rise. They were 8-8 in 2020 and could be a lot better very soon. Another good draft could really put this team over the top.

Kyler Murray is a star quarterback who could be a superstar. I was very high on him and never believed he was just a runner and not a passer. Is it his fault that he had 819 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns on the ground in the 2020 season? Murray is very fast, and his accuracy continues to improve. He threw for 67.2% up from 64% last season, and his 26 throwing touchdowns were up from 20 the season before. His season QBR was 94.3. These are crazy productive numbers, and collectors can look for more during the 2021 season. Go in heavy with Murray. He was voted to his first Pro Bowl in 2020, and things will only get better as time as goes on. He’s everything a first overall pick should be.

Chase Edmonds is a running back who was drafted in the fourth round in 2018. He’s a utility guy who is a depth running back on the team and still managed to gain 850 combined yards with four receiving touchdowns and one rushing. Another player with terrific speed, Edmonds is a talented kick returner as well. Add in those yards and he gained 1,267. He averaged 79.2 per game. The more touches the better he does. He’s a player who is ready to bust out.

Isaiah Simmons is a strong, fast, linebacker who can chase down runners. The Cardinals took him eighth overall in 2020. The hope was this prospect would have an instant impact, and that’s exactly what happened. Simmons had 43 tackles, two sacks, and an interception. Simmons played in every game, and his best for tackles was 10 with nine of them being the solo variety. This is the kind of player you’ll be happy to put on your radar.

Leki Fotu’s card portfolio is slim now but that could very well change. Selected in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft (114th overall), this defensive tackle got action in 11 games this past season and netted six tackles and one sack. Fotu uses his background in rugby to muscle his way into a play in a very strategic manner that is impressing fans very strongly. Watch for Fotu to get into more games in 2021.

Eno Benjamin was a seventh round selection (222nd overall) after finishing up at Arizona State. I talked about this combination rusher/receiver in 2020 and I still believe he has a bright future ahead. Benjamin did not get into any games in 2020, but that is going to change, no questions asked. He is the ASU single-season rushing record holder and the Cards are certainly hopeful that his production will continue in the pros.

The Cardinals narrowly missed the playoffs in a weird year for sure. They pick 16th in the 2021 NFL Draft, and that’s what makes this team dangerous. They have a great mix of young players and veterans.
