Future Watch: Blake Speers Rookie Hockey CardsFuture Watch: Blake Speers Rookie Hockey Cards – Blake Speers is a player who many forgot about after his draft season. He was selected in the third round, 67th overall in 2015. Many thought the New Jersey Devils got a steal and now as a 20-year-old prospect he’s put together a nice resume.

For the last two seasons, he’s been better than a point-per-game player for the Soo Greyhounds in the OHL. One governing body who didn’t forget about Speers was Hockey Canada.

Speers was chosen to play in the 2017 U20 World Junior Championships. That was quite an honor for the talented forward. In his seven games played, he was a solid defensive forward who had a goal and three points. In the end, he got to take home a Silver medal and that’s a boost for his confidence.

Blake Speers has Leaf/ITG hockey cards from 2014-15 products. However, his first NHL licensed rookie card will be in 2016-17 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey. That product releases on February 15th, 2017.

The Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada native is sure to be a goal scorer at the next level. The big question is how many will he score year to year?

Next year, he’ll play in the American Hockey League for a full season. There’s no reason to rush him to the Devils. Earlier this season the Devils gave him a three-game cup of coffee to show him what it’s like to be a professional and to spark him to have another terrific season for the Greyhounds.

Here’s a look at Blake Speers at his photo shoot shortly after being drafted:

This has been a big year for him. He signed a deal, played some pro hockey, represented his country at one of the great tournaments in the world and now he’s probably playing his last year in the OHL. Next year will be the biggest test of his young career. Collectors will be watching as he attends rookie camp and beyond.
