Future Watch: Blaze Alexander Rookie Baseball Cards, DiamondbacksFuture Watch: Blaze Alexander Rookie Baseball Cards, DiamondbacksBlaze Alexander was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2018 MLB Amateur Draft. This talented shortstop needs reps in the minors and had to put on some muscle to add to his 160-pound frame.

Now, 6-1, 170, he can hit but he’s also known to have a strong arm which is a bonus at the position he plays. Defense is so important in games. You can’t make throwing errors and put runners on base.

In 2018, the lanky infielder started off the year in Rookie ball. He hit two home runs, had 25 RBI in 27 games and hit .362. He finished the season with the Missoula Osprey also in rookie ball. In 116 at-bats he hit .302, hit three home runs, drove in 17 and scored 27 times in 28 games. He added three steals, nine doubles, and three triples.

Collectors can find his rookie card in 2019 Bowman Priority Baseball.

Alexander played for the Kane County Cougars in 2019 in A-Ball. In his first 261 at-bats, he was hitting .261 with six home runs and 38 RBI in 75 games at the time. The prospect smacked 11 doubles and two triples. He swiped 13 bases and a .356 on-base percentage. In the field, he had a .958 fielding percentage with 36 assists.

According to his MLB.com Draft Profile:

There are plenty of tools to be excited about with Alexander. It starts with his near top-of-the-scale arm strength, though he’ll need to work on accuracy with his throws across the diamond. He’s an athletic shortstop with the hands and feel for the position, and there are mixed opinions as to whether he’ll be able to remain there or have to move to second or third base. ETA 2020.

Here’s a look at him in action:

At 20, he throws high 90’s from short to first. He’s hitting for more power. You will see him at the major league level before you know it.
