Future Watch: Brady Skjei Hockey Rookie Cards, RangersFuture Watch: Brady Skjei Hockey Rookie Cards, Rangers – Brady Skjei is the top defensive prospect in the New York Rangers system. To date he’s played in four NHL games this season and almost one complete season with the Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL.

He was drafted 28th overall in the 2012 draft. He came from National Team Development Program under Team USA. He’s had a lot of different experience. He’s played internationally and won a gold medal on the U-18 team in 2011-12. He played in the Frozen Four for Minnesota in 2014. He has the type of pedigree that could make him a star defenseman in the NHL someday.

Here is a look at his 2012 Draft Day Q&A following his selection:

At 21, he’s closer to being a finished product than many other youngsters. At 6′-3″, 206lbs his great skating ability and tremendous physical strength are two of his best attributes. He’s a very smart player and his Future Watch: Brady Skjei Hockey Rookie Cards, Rangersoffense has been starting to emerge a bit more every season. In Hartford he has 24 points in his first 59 games. A very solid number since it’s his first professional season.

So far his only rookie card resides in 2015-16 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey. This is a chance for collectors to get in on the ground floor of a player who is destined to be a regular next season for the Blueshirts. They’re deep at the moment but when the off-season changes hit, he’ll be ready to shine on Broadway.

I see more defenseman having a great hobby impact in the next few years since defense rules the sport. In the past only star offensive defenseman got that notoriety. However, Skjei is part of a breed of player who do everything well but may not put up amazing offensive numbers. He has All-Star ability and now fans get to watch him develop. While you’re waiting I’d collect some of his key cards just in case.
