Future Watch: Cale Makar Rookie Hockey Cards, AvalancheFuture Watch: Cale Makar Rookie Hockey Cards, Avalanche – Of all the crossover rookies he’s the one to get. He was drafted 4th overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. At 5-11, less than 180 at the time there was some skepticism based on size and the league he first starred in the AJHL.

Makar’s first year with UMass was very successful. In 2017-18, he had five goals and 21 points in 34 games. He was on the all-rookie team and he was the New England Rookie of the Year. In that same calendar year, he got to represent Team Canada in the U20 World Junior Championship. On that team, he played a role and he still managed to get eight points in seven games. He ended up winning a gold medal, most goals by a defenseman with three, most points by a defenseman and a Top Three Player on the team.

In 2018-19, he almost willed them to a National Championship last season. He had 16 goals and 49 points in 41 games. Everything ran through him. He was the 2019 Hobey Baker Award winner and the 4th overall pick in 2017. He will have a huge impact with his skating and scoring in Colorado this season.

This video shows that he’s been able to produce points at every level:

Last season he made his debut in the playoffs! He had six points in 10 games when it was all on the line. He performed well and now this season he may have a bigger role.

Collectors can get his rookie card in 2019-20 MVP Hockey and virtually every other 2019-20 Upper Deck Hockey set.

He could start this season as the teams #1 defenseman on the power play and 5-on-5. He can get 50-60 points and be a Calder Finalist when it’s all said and done. He’s is a must-collect player.
