Future Watch: Cam Akers Football Cards, Los Angeles Rams – Cam Akers was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams with the 52nd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. The 5’10”, 217-pound running back is built like a firetruck but moves like a gazelle.

Akers first starred in Clinton High School in Clinton, Mississippi as a dual-position star, playing quarterback and running back. As a senior, Akers rushed for 2,105 yards and 34 touchdowns and passed for 3,128 yards and 31 touchdowns, leading to being named an All-American. Overall, Akers had 149 touchdowns in his high school career

He committed to Florida State and in 2017, he played in 13 games. He had 1,025 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground and one through the air. In his three seasons there, he rushed for a total of 2,875 yards and 27 touchdowns on the ground and seven through the air. He was voted to the Second-Ream All-ACC for that season. At the end of the 2019 season, he skipped the Sun Bowl to get ready for the NFL Draft.

At the 2020 NFL Combine, this prospect ran a solid 4.47 in the 40-yard dash. After doing a 10’2″ broad jump and 20 reps on the bench press, his place in the NFL Draft was more than secure.

Akers has great hands, quick feet, and enough speed to turn the corner for big gains. He may be used in a pass play or two since he was a quarterback.
