Future Watch: CeeDee Lamb Football Cards, Cowboys – Nothing lights up the draft board like the Dallas Cowboys when they draft a wide receiver. CeeDee Lamb is the latest when he was selected with the 17th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He is from Opelousas, Louisiana which means football is in his blood.
The 6-2 wide receiver lived in New Orleans until Hurricane Katrina hit and that’s when he fled to Houston, Texas. As a result, he attended John and Randolph Foster High School in Richmond, Texas. He had an astounding 98 catches for 2,032 yards and 33 touchdowns. It was reported that 20 Division I schools wanted him to attend their universities and, in the end, he decided on Oklahoma.
During his remarkable NCAA career, Lamb racked-up the following awards:
- 2018 – Second-Team All-Big 12
- 2019 – Consensus All-American
- 2019 – First-Team All-Big 12
His career at Oklahoma was stellar. In 2018, he had 108 yards and a touchdown against the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in the Orange Bowl in the College Football Playoff. They lost the game, but he elevated his status. In 2019, he was a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award as the top receiver in college football but didn’t win it. In December he announced he would forego his senior season for the NFL Draft.
At the NFL Combine, he ran an impressive 4.5 in the 40-yard dash. His vertical was 34.5” and he did 11 reps on the weight bench.

The Cowboys gave him the #88. That was worn by Drew Pearson, Michael Irvin and Dez Bryant. Those are big shoes for Lamb to fill but he’s capable of doing just that.
