Future Watch: CJ Abrams Rookie Baseball Cards, PadresFuture Watch: CJ Abrams Rookie Baseball Cards, PadresCJ Abrams was drafted by the San Diego Padres with the sixth overall pick in the 2019 MLB Amateur Draft. The 6-2 shortstop has a lot of tools in his toolbox including blazing speed.

In 2019, he played in 34 rookie ball games with two teams. His final destination was with the Arizona League Padres. In 142 at-bats he had 13 doubles, eight triples, three home runs, and 22 RBI. He had 14 steals, an amazing .442 OBP and a cool .401 batting average. He’s not a hot prospect, he’s scorching hot.

Collectors can find his rookie card in 2019 Bowman Chrome. Also look for his cards in 2018 Leaf Perfect Game, 2019 Panini Elite Extra Edition, 2019 Bowman’s Best and 2019 Panini Prizm Draft Picks.

The fact that’s he’s only 19, means the Padres will take their time with him. They will want him to get stronger and get a certain amount of minor league at-bats. This is a player that everybody should collect because there’s a ton of upside here.

According to his MLB.com Prospect Profile:

Abrams has game-changing speed, uses his quickness to beat out bunts and grounders and has the instincts to develop into a premium base-stealer. He has a quick left-handed stroke and controls the bat very well, making consistent contact and using the entire field. While he won’t be a slugger, he looked a little more physical during this spring and has the bat speed and deceptive strength to hit 10-15 homers on an annual basis.
