Future Watch: Courtland Sutton Rookie Football Cards, Broncos
Courtland Sutton was drafted by the Denver Broncos with the 40th overall pick in 2018. The Brenham, Texas native was an all-district tight end in high school and it makes sense that he chose SMU as the college that he’d attend.
In 2014, his first season, he only got to play in two games before he was medically redshirted for the rest of the season.
In 2015, he started in all 12 games. He had 49 receptions for 862 yards and nine touchdowns. Amazingly enough, after that season, he played for the SMU basketball team after the football season ended. He got in three games.
In 2016, he caught 76 balls for 1,246 yards and 12 touchdowns. That season made him think he could be ready for the NFL, but he decided to kick that can down the road and return to SMU for another season.
In 2017, he played in 13 games and had 68 receptions for 1,085 yards and 12 touchdowns through the air. He did run in one for a score as well. He was now ready to enter the NFL Draft. As a 6-3 receiver, he’d have a lot of suitors.
At the combine, he ran a 4.54, 40-yard dash and did 18 reps on the bench press. The rest of his numbers were pretty impressive as well.

Sutton has played in three games so far. He has 10 catches for 162 yards and a touchdown. In a game against the Jets, he had two catches for 18 yards and his touchdown. His long on the year is 42 yards but it seems like the quarterback, Case Keenum is starting to find him open. Collectors, this guy is just scratching the surface in regard to his talent.
