Future Watch: Daniel Sprong Hockey Rookie Cards, Penguins – The NHL Draft can be the ultimate crap shoot for teams looking to stock their system with talented prospects. Sometimes players with guaranteed first round ability drop and Daniel Sprong is one of those players. He slipped far enough for the Pittsburgh Penguins to be able to select him with the 46th overall pick in 2015.

With his family hailing from the Netherlands, he was a rare player and he impressed the Penguins enough to sign him immediately and have him start the season with the big club. He got an 18-game cup of coffee and now he’s back in the QMJHL honing his skills so he can be ready to try and return to Pittsburgh at the age of 19.

Blessed with great hands he’s the kind of player who can get behind the defense and finish with the best of them. So far he has two NHL goals. He will build on that and someday he will be a 15-20 goal scorer at the highest level. He might get better numbers than that only time will tell.

Daniel Sprong has a 2015-16 Series 1 Upper Deck Young Guns rookie card. He can also be found in 2014-15 Leaf Metal Hockey.

Here’s a look at his NHL draft profile:

Sprong had a good sample of what life can be like in the NHL. He wasn’t getting enough ice time to keep him there this season. Next season he’ll have a chance to show them he’s ready. He should be up for the challenge.
