Future Watch: Derek Barnett Rookie Football Cards, EaglesFuture Watch: Derek Barnett Rookie Football Cards, Eagles Derek Barnett was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles with the 14th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. This talented pass rusher proved he was an impact player early on.

Barnett attended the University of Tennessee and became the first legit freshman lineman to start the season opener in the history of the university. He had three tackles in that opener, a sack, the next week and he was off and running. He played in all 13 games that season making 10 starts. In 2015, Barnett capped off a nice season with eight tackles and a sack in a 45-6 rout over Northwestern in the 2016 Outback Bowl.

In 2016, he started the season with a seven-tackle game victory against Appalachian State. He finished it with his 32nd sack of the season in the 2016 Music City Bowl on December 30th  breaking the school record. Previously held by Eagles Hall of Famer, Reggie White.

The Nashville, Tennessee native played in 15 games for the Eagles in his rookie year. He had 21 tackles and five sacks. He had a hand in helping the Eagles get into the playoffs.

In the NFC Championship Game against the Minnesota Vikings he had two tackles, one sack and a forced fumble in the 38-7 rout. He was off to his first Super Bowl.
