Future Watch: Diego Lainez Soccer Cards, Real Betis – Sometimes one can look at a player and see immense talent that has not been fulfilled quite yet. That is the case for 20-year old winger Diego Lainez. The Mexican international has unquestionable skill but he has not yet fully shown that off for La Liga side Real Betis.

Lainez transferred from Mexican giant Club America to Betis in early 2019. He made 18 appearances overall for his side in all competitions this season, scoring one goal. The stats are not yet there for Lainez in Spain, but he is definitely a player to keep a close eye on for the future.

Lainez is very comfortable in possession and has the ability to take on defenders one-v-one and beat them in a number of ways. He can play at speed, with good touch with both feet. He will dribble at defenders and has quick cutting ability. His balance is good and despite not being very big physically, he is tough, strong and has excellent balance. All his talents still must be harnessed and shown consistently game in and game out; but there can be no doubting he has the tools.

Lainez has played for El Tri on the international stage with the full national side five times thus far. He also helped lead Mexico out of the group stage at the U-17 World Cup in 2017. In that tournament, Lainez scored two goals against the eventual winners England.

Lainez made his cardboard debut in 2019-20 Panini Chornicles but more collectibles are sure to come for this prospect.

Again, as stated earlier, Lainez is one to keep your eye on for the near future. The next two to three seasons will be crucial for the young player to establish himself in Europe.
