Future Watch: Dominik Kubalik Rookie Hockey Cards, Blackhawks – Dominik Kubalik was signed to a one-year, free-agent contract by the Chicago Blackhawks last May. The Czech winger was originally drafted by the Kings in 2013 and last January the Blackhawks traded a fifth-rounder to acquire him.
From 2012-14, Kubalik scored 30 goals in two seasons. Not gaudy numbers but the goal scoring was showing up at that time. After that, he went back to his homeland in the Czech Republic to play there. In 2016-17, he scored 29 goals in 51 games. The next season, he scored 26 with two different teams, continuing to show signs of some scoring prowess.
In 2018-19, he had 25 goals and 57 points and six points in five playoff games in the Swiss League. That was a step up in talent to have to face and he passed the test. After that season he shined in the World Championships. In ten games he had six goals and six assists. He was voted a Top Three Player on his team and he was third on his team in scoring behind Jake Voracek (Flyers) and Michael Frolik (Sabres).

Collectors can find his rookie cards in 2019-20 Upper Deck Series One, with a Young Guns rookie, as well as MVP, SP Authentic and O-Pee-Chee to name a few of them.
Kubalik had a chance to make the Blackhawks out of camp. He did that and more. He gets top power-play time and time with both Kane and Toews. That doesn’t diminish the fact that he has 29 goals in his first 64 NHL games. He’s added 15 helpers and three game-winning goals. He shouldn’t be a hobby sleeper, but at age 24, he just might be and he’s just starting to put it all together for Chicago.
