Future Watch: Drew Lock Rookie Football Cards, Broncos – Drew Lock was drafted by the Denver Broncos with the 42nd overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. While most teams start their rookie phenoms right away, the Broncos now have Joe Flacco as well, and since he said it’s not his job to mentor this young quarterback, Lock is on his own and will have to carve his own path to an NFL starting job.
The Columbia, Missouri native attended the University of Missouri. His first game there he came off the bench for a few plays and threw a touchdown. That’s a heck of a way to get noticed. He finished out the final eight games in that 2015 season. He threw for 1,332 yards and four touchdowns. His role would increase down the road.
In 2016, his second season in the SEC, he was the first ranked quarterback in the conference. He threw for 3,399 yards (fifth most in the history of the University), averaging 283.3 passing yards per game. His yards per completion was excellent with a 14.34 average. He had a five-touchdown game and a second half, 17-point comeback on his resume that season as well.
2017 was a record-setting year for this future NFLer. He guided his team to a 7-5 record and a Bowl Game. He threw for 3,695 yards and 43 touchdowns, an SEC record! His pass completion percentage was 62.9% and he only threw 12 picks.
Collectors can find rookie cards of his in 2019 Score, Prizm Draft Picks, Contenders Draft Picks, Leaf Metal Draft and Sage HIT to name a few.
Here he is after his first practice with the Broncos:
He will start the season on the bench and he’ll watch and learn. He will get acclimated to the Broncos offense and the NFL. Whenever he gets his chance expect him to make the most of it. Don’t wait until that happens. Be ahead of the curve.
