When the International signing period opened up to major league teams, the Chicago Cubs stepped up and signed the talented player in 2013.

The Dominican outfielder made scouts drool and now fans will soon get to witness this star in the making. At 6′-4″, 205 pounds he has a chance to become a power-hitter in the windy city.

Now 20, he has graduated to A+ ball playing for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in the Carolina League. His three homers, 10 RBI and .324 average is very encouraging. His .468 on-base percentage is a terrific number showing he has good plate discipline. He could get promoted before the end of the season.

After signing for $2.8 million out of the Dominican Republic as the top-rated prospect on the 2013 international market, Jimenez developed slowly in his first two pro seasons. That changed in 2016, when he put on an offensive and defensive show at the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game and won the Midwest League MVP award at age 19. He led the low Class A circuit with 40 doubles and a .532 slugging percentage, and continued to stand out as one of the youngest players in the Arizona Fall League. ETA 2019.
