Future Watch: Emil Bemstrom Rookie Hockey Cards, Blue Jackets – Emil Bemstrom was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets with the 117th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. This 5-10, 181-pound winger will surprise a lot of people if they don’t already know about him.
In 2016-17, while playing for the J20 team in SuperElite, he had the most goals in the North with 21. Adding the 12 helpers and he had 33 points in 28 games and getting to play in three postseason games. That got him noticed for sure.
In 2017-18, he played at two different levels combining for 20 goals and 20 assists in 51 games. This time he played in 11 playoff games, scoring twice.
2018-19 was his year. He had 23 goals and 12 assists in the SHL. He showed great discipline with just eight penalty minutes. In the playoffs, he had five goals and five assists in 19 games. In the middle of the season, the Swede represented his country in the U20 World Junior Championship. To say he did well is an understatement, the forward has four goals and six points in five games leading his team with players who were drafted in the first round in scoring. He was voted a Top-Three player on his team. Back to the SHL, he won the Rookie of the Year Award and SM Silver Medal.
Collectors can find Emil Bemstrom’s 2019-20 Young Guns Rookie Card in Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey. He has other NHL licensed rookie cards, in most, 2019-20 Upper Deck NHL Hockey products, including SP-Game Used and O-Pee-Chee, to name a few.

Bemstrom wasn’t on the Calder radar but he was having an impact in Columbus. His rookie campaign was solid and collectors can expect him to get around 20 goals or more per season in the coming years. Don’t let him catch you by surprise.
