Future Watch: Filip Chytil Rookie Hockey Cards, RangersFuture Watch: Filip Chytil Rookie Hockey Cards, RangersFilip Chytil was drafted by the New York Rangers with the 21st overall pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Still just 18, this Czech prospect has had a well-travelled career already and really the best part is just getting started.

In 2015-16 Chytil scored 28 goals in the Czech Elite League. When he moved up from U18 to U20 his numbers went down significantly. Now he was playing up in his age group, so he had to adjust.

This past season he played mostly with the Hartford Wolfpack where he scored 11 goals and 20 assists in 45 games. In-between that he played for the U20 team in the World Junior Championship. His four points in seven games was solid. He was one of the best players on the team.

Chytil got a late-season card because he made the Rangers team in training camp, played well in the preseason and played two games to start the season. He was then sent to the AHL until his recent recall to play out the season. In his first game back, his third NHL game overall, he got a nice assist and that gave Ranger fans hope. This season was a part of a reset for the organization with this talent as one of the players who will get their feet wet this season in hopes of being settled in the NHL next season.

Chytil has one of the hottest rookie cards in the newly-created, 2017-18 Upper Deck Synergy set. He does have a Young Guns rookie in Series 2 hockey as well as SP Game-Used and Upper Deck Black Diamond as well.

Here’s a look at a preseason goal:

Chytil can play center or wing. The Rangers have time to figure that out with the games remaining this season and into training camp next season. Don’t miss out on this talent.
