Future Watch: Franklyn Kilome Rookie Baseball Cards, PhilliesFuture Watch: Franklyn Kilome Rookie Baseball Cards, Phillies – Sometimes it doesn’t matter when or where you get drafted. Franklyn Kilome was an undrafted international free agent the Philadelphia Phillies signed in 2013. He started pitching professionally in 2014 where he posted a record of 3-1 with a 3.12 ERA in the Gulf Coast League.
So far the 6′-“6 hurler has drawn rave reviews from outlets like Baseball America who last July touted the Dominican prospect as the teams’ third ranked farmhand.
In 2015 he was 3-2 in 11 starts. He had 36 strikeouts in 49.2 innings in Short A. Again he continued his ascent.
His first foray in Single A was very bumpy for the 20-year-old. But it’s a learning process and the fact that he weighs only 175 pounds means he’ll have to get stronger before he’s ready to play for the big league club.
Franklyn Kilome’s first officially licensed autographed baseball card is his 2016 Bowman Chrome Prospect Autograph, card number CPA-FK.
Here’s a look at his fastball popping from the mid to high 90’s.

According to his MLB.com draft profile:
Kilome has gotten bigger and stronger since signing, and his velocity has taken off. His fastball now was sitting in the low 90s, reaches 95 mph easily and he’s even touched 97-98 mph. He mixes in a curveball and changeup, both of which show promise but need more refinement. He’s learned to better repeat his delivery and is throwing more strikes as a result. ETA 2019.
The Phillies are in a rebuilding mode. This is ideal for Kilome who’s still developing. By the time he’s ready to be an everyday starter for the big club, he should be a real threat in the NL East. Until then, you get to watch this guy continue to improve in his quest to live out his dream.
