Future Watch: Hailie Deegan Racing Cards, NASCAR

Future Watch: Hailie Deegan Racing Cards, NASCAR – A couple years ago, James Gale profiled Hailee Deegan here on Go GTS. I wanted to take a second look at this exciting female driver and examine what she’s been up to since she her first Future Watch appearance.

In the 2018-2019 racing season, Deegan was still the only female driver in Toyota Racing development program. In September 2019, she won her first race, in the process becoming the first woman to win at the K&N Pro Series level. Deegan closed the year by clinching Rookie of the Year honors for the series.

In March 2019, Deegan announced she was doing six races with Venturina motorsports in the Menards Arca Series. She  made her series debut in Toledo with the Venturini’s No. 55 Toyota Camry and scored her first ARCA top-five finish in October at Indianapolis Raceway park.

2020 saw Deegan switch from Toyota’s development driver program to Ford, signing a full-time ARCA Menards Series contract with DGR-Crosley. She cited Toyota’s lack of available teams relative to their number of drivers as the reason for the switch, explaining, “there’s so many Toyota drivers and there’s not many seats. I think we made the best decision for my career long-term.”

In the first race of the season, at Daytona, Deegan fought hard and got second place, tying the for the best finish by a female driver with Erin Crocker . The next three races she got seventh place, tying again with best finish for a short track by a female driver.

On October 7, 2020, DGR-Crosley announced that Deegan would make her debut in the Camping World Truck Series, and she finished the race in 16th place, best result in Truck Series history for a female driver in a series debut.

A few days later, David Gilliland Racing announced that she would be driving full time in the 2021 season in the number 1 truck for the camping world series .

You can learn even more about Hailie Deegan in this Motorsports on NBC profile:
