Future Watch: Heath Quinn Rookie Baseball Cards, GiantsFuture Watch: Heath Quinn Rookie Baseball Cards, GiantsHeath Quinn was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the third round of the 2016 MLB Amateur Draft. This 6-3 outfielder has a lot of the tools scouts love.

In 2016, he played a few games in rookie ball and was immediately elevated to Short-A. While playing for the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes he had 205 at-bats with 19 doubles, nine home runs, and 34 RBI in 54 games. He hit .337. That’s a great first year. So good that he got four games with San Jose in at Advanced-A before the end of the season.

He started out his second pro season with the San Jose Giants. Now he played in 75 more games. In 272 at-bats he had nine doubles, ten home runs, and 29 RBI. His average dipped to .228.

He started 2018 out with San Jose once again. In his first 85 games, he had 314 at-bats, slugging 23 doubles, 13 homers, 50 RBI and a .309 batting average. He added a nice .390 on-base percentage as well.

According to his MLB.com draft profile:

Quinn doesn’t have the smoothest right-handed swing but usually makes consistent hard contact to all fields. The strength and leverage in his 6-foot-3, 225-pound frame give him power to all fields, and he’s at his best when he doesn’t worry about home runs. Athletic for his size, Quinn has average speed out of the batter’s box and is a step quicker once he hits his stride. He has solid arm strength and enough range for right field, though he’ll likely be a better fit in left field at spacious AT&T Park. ETA 2020.

Here’s a good look at his swing:

He has a 2017 Bowman Baseball Chrome Prospects Autographs card and that’s a good way to get him into your collection.

Quinn is a player most should think about collecting. He just turned 23. The Giants have a solid track record of producing outfielders and he’s progressing well.
